Job Description

Under the direct supervision of the Controller, the Senior Accountant manages and implements various accounting procedures in compliance with hospital policies, as well as local, state and federal laws and regulations.   Assists in month end close process, reconciliation of various accounts, preparation of budget, and various ad hoc requests from the Controller, CFO and CEO.
*     Travel to various markets (25%) to conduct cash audits at the physician practice locations.
*     Travel will be to a different market, roughly one week per month to our office locations in TX, LA, UT, and AZ.  
*     Coordinate and establish focus areas within each market by meeting regularly with physician group leadership, practice administration, and revenue cycle teams. 
*     Communicate with physician group leadership regarding audit results and recommended improvements.
*     Establish and monitor internal controls around cash processes with the assistance of the accounting, finance and revenue cycle teams.
*     Controls will be focused on streamlining of cash processes and fraud deterrence across all markets.
*     Assist in the transition from NextGen and other third party revenue cycle platforms to Cerner over the next two years.
*     Review, or prepare as needed, cash entries during month end close and act as the primary contact for each of the three market accountants as it relates to cash and cash controls.
*     Review, or prepare as needed, cash reconciliations after month end close.
*     Assist in the resolution of outstanding reconciling items and help establish protocols to reduce reconciling items going forward.
*     Assist in special projects as needed.


*     Bachelors in Accounting or related field required.
*     CPA or CPA eligibility a plus.
*     2 - 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. 
*     Healthcare experience preferred.
*     Excellent communication skills - verbal and written.
*     Ability to handle and meet multiple deadlines in a fast paced environment.
*     Strong computer skills, including all Microsoft applications (i.e. Excel and Word).
*     Familiarity with applications such as Lawson, Lotus Notes (email), OnBase, NextGen, Cerner, Centricity, Chartlogic, Essbase, OneStream, or Hyperion a plus.  
*     Ability to work with all levels of management in a diverse work environment. 
*     Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, physicians, management, and peers.
