POSITION SUMMARY: 
This position will contribute to system design, content build, testing, and validation of medication orders and functionality of Pharmacy Information Systems applications. This position is based in corporate, or for the right individual, remote with travel as needed for corporate requirements, go-live support, ARRA (American Recovery and Re-Investment Act) medication, and allergy codification. Position is integral for the pharmacy components that comply with Meaningful Use and HITECH (Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health) Act.
 
The Pharmacy Clinical IT Analyst will be responsible for the successful preparation and support for Pharmacy Information System go-lives, upgrades, medication orders, troubleshooting Pharmacy Information System issues, providing resolution to issues, support and maintenance. The focus of the position is the build of medication orderables, frequencies, dosages, and codification. Position provides contribution to any task assigned by the Director of Clinical Applications or Senior Manager, Clinical Systems.
 
The Pharmacy Clinical IT Analyst is required to be familiar or aware of Pharmacy guidelines and state requirements in our corporate domain. Understands formulary updates, med order alerts, medication patient safety, medication administration, medication orders, and importantly Pharmacy workflow and process in both the Inpatient and Ambulatory service areas.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Individual should have expert knowledge of content design, build, test, train, validation, and support of medication orderables. Serves as a pharmacy resource for physician computerized order entry design, build, support and order set testing. Position also performs other responsibilities as needed.


Qualifications

SKILL OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Currently serves as a credentialed pharmacy technician in the inpatient hospital environment with familiarity of Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS). These information systems require experience in both Horizon Meds Manager and Cerner PharmNet. The incumbent provides pharmacist and PIS support. This individual should have excellent written and verbal presentation and communication. Capable of relating pharmacy orders to physicians and nurses. Needs competency in MS Office applications and pharmacy related software applications.
 
EDUCATION OR SPECIFIC TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
This position should have a minimum of an associate’s degree in pharmacy technology, BS is preferred.
 
ADDITIONAL SKILLS NEEDED:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications: Word, Excel, Power Point, and etc. Individual has a clear understanding of project management methodology, as it relates to Pharmacy implementations, updates, and applications implementation life cycle.
