Job Description

Provides primary medical and urgent care services within the scope of licensing, training, and credentialing within the family practice clinic setting.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
  • Delivers direct patient care to patients of all ages, developing therapeutic plans of care for prevention, management, and maintenance of optimum health.
  • Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic illnesses, administering prevention services, pre/postnatal services, and family planning.
  • Order labs and diagnostic tests, and prescribe medications to patients
  • Makes referrals to healthcare professionals, specialists, and the like.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed patient records, completing required charting in a timely manner.
  • May be assigned ‘on call’ duties and responsibilities for the clinic/clinics.
  • Coordinates and schedules all inpatient and outpatient surgeries, all inpatient and Safeguards the confidentiality of all patient information.

Secondary Functions:
  • Attends and participates in department and hospital meetings as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned/required.


Qualifications

Specific Job Skills:
  • Ability to operate a personal computer. Knowledge of electronic medical record software.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, abbreviations and ICD-9 / CPT Coding and knowledge of implants and instruments required for surgical procedures.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with peers to contribute to the overall productivity of the team.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks and work in a productive and collegial fashion with physicians, nurses, and other personnel.
  • Ability to work with interruptions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain accurate, current records
  • Work at this level has a variable degree of activity ranging from sedentary to extremely active utilizing various types of equipment. This position may require exposure to environmental conditions commiserate with a normal business/office and hospital or clinic environments as well as exposure to materials covered under Universal Precautions.
  • Long periods of standing are required. Agility and the ability to push, pull and bend are required. Seeing and hearing are required. Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds unassisted. Must be able to distinguish color.
Education and/or Experience:
  • Masters Degree from an accredited Nursing program
  • Current, unrestricted DEA Certificate and prescriptive privileges required.
  • Current, unrestricted licensure to practice within the state of Colorado required
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS required.
