Job Description

The ACO Finance Director will be focused on overseeing the optimization of the clinical and financial outcomes of the organization’s clinically integrated accountable care networks and bundled payment programs, under minimal supervision. The ACO Finance Director will be responsible for helping drive the organization’s understanding of medical costs, both utilization and unit cost, network utilization and leakage, clinical outcomes and efficiencies, contract optimization, as well as understanding the attributed membership as a whole. They will manage the completion of analyses required to proactively support medical management activities, provider contracting and management activities, financial and accounting activities, network utilization analysis, and other key initiatives of the organization’s clinically integrated networks. The ACO Finance Director provides key information critical to decision making, facilitating management-level conversations that leverage advanced spreadsheet, development, and database skills to deliver value to key stakeholders - presenting solutions to complex problems that leverage a thoughtful, action oriented approach to improving performance and outcomes.
A strong candidate for the ACO Finance Director role will have a Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent degree, and multiple years of experience in data analysis and reporting - having developed and applied competencies specifically with Microsoft Excel and SQL. An ideal candidate will also have multiple years of experience in the healthcare field. A successful candidate must be comfortable thinking outside the box, and passionate about applying data and analytics to solve complex, impactful problems.

Job Responsibility:
* Serve as oversight in the reporting of complex health care issues, including reporting of both health care utilization and unit cost metrics, complex financial reporting and development of advanced analytic outputs
* Design and manage reports and data analyzation to measure clinical outcomes, network performance and methodology levers - including the oversight of analyst(s) directly
responsible for population of these reports, and validation of their accuracy and completeness
* Develop medical cost reporting, including standardization of cost categories of service, unit cost and utilization metrics
* Develop business requirements for decision support tools and reports
* Create dashboards generated from claims, prior authorization, and lab data to support departmental functions - including internal and external board, committee, and collaboration / workgroup meetings
* Receive, interpret and complete data requests from leadership and stakeholders
* Large Healthcare Data Analytics

* Ensures the creation of actionable information and effectively communicates results that support findings to customers
* Collaborates with internal and external partners to understand data needs and design analytic studies that provide actionable results
* Supports Medical and Financial programs through reporting and tracking of initiatives
* Proactively identifies potential areas for medical cost improvements and alternative pricing strategies
* Distributes monthly reports to members of the senior leadership team including refreshing of standard reports as well as designing and providing ad hoc reports upon request.
* Deliverables are generated and distributed timely, reflecting detailed and accurate information
* Manages change to requirements through effective use of change control processes and tools
* Creates and maintains high quality documents, and adheres to quality standards set by Management.
* Assists in enforcement of project deadlines, schedules, and methodologies
* Oversees analyst(s) supporting accountable areas

Qualifications

Professional Competencies (knowledge, skills, and abilities):

Knowledge:   
Data analysis and insights, preferably within a healthcare environment
Experience using relational databases
Business and finance principles and practices
Experience developing executive-level presentations
Experience identifying process improvement opportunities
Experience thinking creatively and collaboratively to address complex problems
Experience managing entry and mid-level analyst resources
       
Skills:    
SQL, Excel, PowerPoint; other data gathering and reporting tools
Exposure to Microsoft Visio, Access, and Tableau is preferred, but not required

Education:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent obtained at a four-year college or university preferred

Experience:
* At least five (5) years working with data, reporting, and analysis in a workplace setting
* At least two (2) years working in a healthcare or managed care environment preferred
